Speaking of Freedom:The Birth of the Constitution

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearsome master." (George Washington)

Our Founders were so wise! They understood that government, like fire, can be one of the most beneficial things there is if it is kept under control. But if it gets out of the firebox it can be one of the most destructive forces on earth. The Founders of our nation designed a firebox to keep government from burning out of control and consuming those it was intended to benefit. That firebox is our Constitution.

It may sound counter intuitive to say, but freedom can only be realized by submitting to authority. Not just any authority, though, but a proper, righteous and just authority. The ultimate such authority, of course, is God. The nearest men have come to establishing such an authority on this earth is the US Constitution. (By the way, it is no coincidence that it is based upon biblical principles.)

As members of MCP, we strive to educate others on our founding principles and our true history. It goes without saying that in order to do so we must be educated ourselves. With this in mind, there will be an opportunity for us to learn as we host a "Birth of the Constitution" course this Saturday, February 19, from 10 to 2 at the Church of the Open Door on Highway 63 South in Macon. Constitutional Attorney Dave Roland will be the presenter. Lunch will be provided and there is no charge. You need not be a member so, invite a friend to come along. See you Saturday!
