Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Founding Father Quote:
“…that Heaven may continue to you the choicest tokens of its beneficence that your union and brotherly affection may be perpetual; that the free Constitution which is the work of your hands may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue; that, in fine, the happiness of the people of these States, under the auspices of liberty, may be made complete by so careful a preservation and so prudent a use of this blessing as will acquire to them the glory of recommending it to the applause, the affection, and adoption of every nation which is yet a stranger to it.”
-From George Washington’s Farewell Address
Lord, Your Word says that where two or more come together, there You are in the midst of them. We come together now and thank You for all the good and perfect gifts You have given us. We know that You are our only hope for national reform, and in You we move and live and have our being. Without You we are nothing. We ask You, Heavenly Father, to unite us as one nation under God again. We need to become a strong united front for righteousness in our country so that we can defeat the foes that constantly plague us. Instead of focusing on foreign enemies, we have turned inward and begun to fight amongst our own brothers. Please forgive us for our foolish choices, for choosing petty arguments over harmony. May we be reconciled to each other, and may Your love be the healing balm that makes this country great once again. In Your Son’s Name we pray and ask. Amen.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
